Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK - Mark Saccomanno may have had his hitting streak halted at 14 games two days ago, but it hasn't cooled the Express infielder's bat.

Already with hits in 15 of his last 16 games, Saccomanno belted a pair of home runs for the first time this season, helping Round Rock to a 5-3 win over New Orleans (NY Mets) in the Express' first game at The Dell Diamond since embarking on a season-long 12-game roadtrip on May 29.

In front of 11,490 fans, Josh Miller allowed a single run in the first and second innings for Round Rock before shutting the Zephyrs down over four more innings of his first win. Scott Sauerbeck, Jose Rodriguez and Paul Estrada combined to hold New Orleans to one run on three more hits over the final three innings.

With the Express trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the second, Saccomanno punched his 10th homer of the season over the Round Rock bullpen to pull the Express to within 2-1. Danny Ardoin followed up with a double and scored on Josh Anderson's single to left.

Saccomanno followed up with a two-run shot off Jason Vargas in the sixth, putting Round Rock ahead 4-2.

The two teams meet for the second game of the series Tuesday at The Dell Diamond at 7:05 p.m. The game can be heared live on 1560 AM or 1260 AM, or by logging on to www.roundrockexpress.com.
