Hagerstown, MD: The Hagerstown Suns took the first game of a three game series against the Lakewood BlueClaws 7-6, extending their winning streak to three games.

South Atlantic League All-Star Cory VanAllen recorded his first win of the season, improving his record to 1-3 with a 3.62 ERA. VanAllen struck out four BlueClaws and allowed five hits without giving up an earned run.

Right-handed pitcher Josh Wilkie pitched the final inning and two thirds to record his fourth save of the season. Wilkie struck out two batters and only allowed one base-runner.

Outfielder Chris Marrero, also named a SAL All-Star, hit his 14th home run of the season, tying him for the league lead with teammate Justin Maxwell. Maxwell was 1-2 on the day with three walks and two runs scored.

Along with outfielder Mike Daniel and first baseman Brett McMillan, Marrero and Maxwell were both promoted to the Potomac Nationals, the high-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals.

Carlos Monasterios took the loss for the BlueClaws, pitching 4.2 innings giving up six walks and eight hits.
