GreenJackets Game Postponed on Monday Night

June 11, 2007 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Augusta, GA - The GreenJackets (45-18) and Asheville Tourists (39-23) had their game postponed on Monday night because of field conditions being unplayable. Heavy rain began falling just before the start of the game and after one hour the game was officially postponed.

The players never took the field because the tarp covered the field before the game got underway in anticipation of the rain in the area. Rain began to fall at 7:00 p.m., five minutes before the scheduled first pitch.

The two teams will play a double header on Tuesday night with the first game starting at 5:05 p.m. Both games will be seven innings in length and the second game will begin approximately a half hour after the first game is completed.

Fans who had tickets for Monday night's game can exchange them for any regular season game in the 2007. Fans can also exchange their ticket from Monday night for Tuesday's double header.

The GreenJackets will send lefty Clayton Tanner (7-2, 2.22) in game one while the Tourists will counter with Right-hander Aneury Rodriguez (2-4, 5.21). In the second game Augusta sends Henry Sosa (6-0, 0.76) to the hill while Asheville will counter with Simon Ferrer (4-3, 5.45). Game Notes:

Cal Ripken Jr. will be at the park on Tuesday night. He is still scheduled to meet with the media from 6:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m.

Augusta has a chance to clinch the Southern Division First Half Title on Tuesday with a win of both games or a combination of a win and a loss by Columbus.
