Louisville Bats News Release

LOUISVILLE, KY- Great pitching and defense were the storyline Tuesday night as the Charlotte Knights snuck past the Louisville Bats 2-1 in front of 8,621 fans at Louisville Slugger Field. The teams scattered 13 hits throughout the game, and neither team committed an error.

Jason Bourgeois led off the top of the sixth inning with a double down the left field line, and advanced to third when Tomas Perez bunted for a base hit. Bourgeois then scored as Craig Wilson grounded into a double play.

Louisville was able to tie it up in the eighth after Ryan Jorgensen led off with a double. Anderson Machado came in to pinch run for Jorgensen, and scored when Pedro Lopez grounded out to shortstop Perez. Perez had to dive to make the play, allowing enough time for Machado to reach home.

Kenny Kelly, the former Louisville Bat and Cincinnati Red, was the deciding factor in the top of the 10th inning. With two outs and no one on, Kelly ripped a shot to left center field that just cleared the wall and center fielder Chris Dickerson's glove.

David Aardsma (1-0, 0.00) pitched the ninth and tenth for Charlotte and earned the win. Ricky Stone (3-3, 1.97) suffered the loss for Louisville in relief.

Neither starter factored into the decision, but both had solid outings. Gavin Floyd scattered seven hits over eight innings while allowing just one run. Phil Dumatrait went eight innings and gave up just four hits and one run for the Bats. Joey Votto went 2-for-4 and reached base for the 30th straight game for Louisville

LHP Bobby Livingston (0-3, 3.88) takes the mound for Louisville against Charlotte's RHP Lance Broadway (3-1, 3.40) tomorrow night. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
