Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Lakewood BlueClaws welcomed Ryan Howard to FirstEnergy Park on Wednesday and Thursday, creating the two highest attendance marks for a game during the month of May in the BlueClaws' seven year history.

In Howard's first game, which started at 11:05am, 8,063 fans came out to watch the reigning National League Most Valuable Player. Howard rewarded the large crowd with a double, a homerun and four RBI to propel the BlueClaws to a 7-4 win over the Hagerstown Suns.

Howard's return, coupled with the first ever Concert Ticket Extravaganza, on Thursday night drew 8,138 fans to the ballpark. That now stands as the largest May crowd for a BlueClaws home game.

"Ryan Howard's presence certainly gave a little boost to our attendance," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "It was very nice to expose what a great product we have to offer to a few of the fans who made their first of hopefully many trips to FirstEnergy Park."

The Lakewood BlueClaws have led the South Atlantic League in attendance in each their first six years of existence. This season they will become the fastest team in SAL and New Jersey history to welcome their 3 millionth fan.

The 2006 South Atlantic League Champion BlueClaws continue to have the most affordable ticket for Professional Baseball in New Jersey. Having led the South Atlantic League in attendance each year of operation, this year they will add their 3-millionth fan, becoming the fastest team in league and New Jersey history to do so.
