West Michigan Has Won Four In a Row

DAVENPORT, IA - Michael Bertram hit two doubles and drove in three runs in the first three innings of the Whitecaps fourth consecutive win, 4-3 at Quad Cities.

Swing starter Elvis Hernandez allowed all four Whitecaps runs and left the game after three innings. He suffered the loss to fall to 3-3.

Bertram hit a two run double in the first that put West Michigan on top, 3-0. In the third inning, Bertram knocked his second double to right-center field and the Caps lead moved to 4-0.

Coming off a 14-strikeout performance, Duane Below started the game for the Whitecaps and pitched six innings with four strikeouts. He allowed two runs on five hits with no walks to earn the victory and improve to 4-1.

Ryan Strieby put West Michigan on the board with an RBI single in the first.

Jeff Gerbe earned his second consecutive save by throwing a perfect ninth inning.

For Quad Cities, Brandon Buckman went 2-for-4 and drove in runs in both the sixth and eighth innings. Buckman continues to lead the Midwest League in RBI with 39 and in hits with 52.
