Lansing Lugnuts News Release

LANSING- Four pitchers combined to hold the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to just one hit as the Lansing Lugnuts took an 11-0 blowout win Friday afternoon at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. It is the largest margin of victory in any game for the Lugnuts this season.

Lansing's starting pitcher Nate Starner (3-4) led the way for the pitching staff as he tossed five hitless innings while fanning eight en route to the win.

Wisconsin's only hit came off of reliever Edward Rodriguez in the sixth when Kuo Hui Lo bounced a single into center field to lead the inning off.

The Lugnuts offense exploded in the game, beginning with three runs in the first. With the bases loaded, Matt Liuzza doubled into right-center field to plate all three baserunners and give the Lugnuts a 3-0 lead.

Lansing added another run in the third inning when Travis Snider blasted a solo homer to left field to make it 4-0.

Five more runs crossed the plate in the fifth inning for the Lugnuts to put the game away. Raul Barron started the scoring with an RBI double into left field to extend the lead to 5-0. After Snider walked, pitcher Anthony Varvaro unleashed a wild pitch that allowed Barron to score and make it a 6-0 game. Scott Campbell's triple drove in Snider to make the score 7-0. Matt Liuzza then capped off the scoring in the frame with two-run homer to open up a 9-0 lead. Liuzza finished 2-for-5 with 5 RBI.

Lansing put two more on the board in the eighth to finish the scoring.

Lansing (19-18) and Wisconsin (11-27) will continue the series on Saturday evening. Zach Dials (2-3, 4.35) will take the hill for the Lugnuts, while Tony Butler (0-2, 3.79) will hurl for the Rattlers. First pitch is set for 7:35 p.m.
