West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

COMSTOCK PARK, MI - A triple play is rare in baseball, but in late July, fans in West Michigan will be treated to a guaranteed one. It just won't be the type of triple play people are used to seeing in a baseball stadium. On Saturday, July 28, the Rock 'N Roll Triple Play 2007 will roll into Fifth Third Ballpark. The tour, headlined by Counting Crows, will also feature special guest star LIVE and Collective Soul.

The stop at Fifth Third Ballpark is part of a 23-date tour of minor league ballparks. The performance in West Michigan will be the only appearance in the state and will take place rain or shine. "This is such a great line-up and we are truly thrilled to be hosting this event," said Whitecaps Director of Outside Events Matt Costello. "We have had such a great response to previous concerts that we jumped at the chance to play host to Counting Crows, Live and Collective Soul."

Tickets for the event will be general admission with limited seating available on the field and in the ballpark's seating bowl. The stage will be placed at second base. "By placing the stage on second base, fans on the field and in the seating bowl will all have great views of the performance," said Costello.

The Whitecaps and concert promoter Jam Productions are attempting to keep the cost low for families by offering free admission to children 12 and under with the purchase of an adult ticket. Tickets are $49.50 for everyone over the age of 12 and can be purchased at the Whitecaps Box Office, over the phone by calling (616) 784-4131, through the Whitecaps website, www.whitecapsbaseball.com, or at TicketMaster locations beginning Saturday, June 2 at 10 a.m.

The Academy Award nominated Counting Crows are best known for songs like "Mr. Jones," "Round Here" and "Accidentally In Love." The group's live performances are renowned for their energetic, passionate nature and often include extended or rewritten versions of the band's recordings. In 1999, Counting Crows co-headlined a tour with LIVE, the special guest star on the Rock 'N Roll Triple Play 2007 Tour. The multi-platinum rock quartet has released eight albums, including Throwing Copper, the band's breakout album which included a trio of number one singles, "Selling the Drama," "I Alone" and "Lightening Crashes." Collective Soul will round out the bill. Since the release of their first album in 1994, the rock group has sold more than 10 million CDs worldwide and has had 19 singles reach the Billboard charts including such hits as "Shine," "December" and "The World I Know."

Rock 'N Roll Triple Play 2007 will be the fourth major concert held at Fifth Third Ballpark. In 2004, the venue played host to Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson and in 2006, Dylan returned to Fifth Third Ballpark to kick off his tour. The ballpark was also the backdrop for the 2 Nite Tour in 2006, which featured Christian music groups Mercy Me and tobyMac.
