Bloomington Extreme News Release

Bloomington Extreme kicker Peter Christofilakos turned in an outstanding performance in his Arena Football League debut Saturday with the Arizona Rattlers.

Christofilakos, who led the Extreme in scoring last season and was a second-team United Indoor Football League second-team selection, was perfect on seven conversion kicks in a 56-49 loss to San Jose.

He also averaged 53.3 yards on eight kickoffs and had his only field goal attempt - a 45-yarder - blocked.

Christofilakos' replacement on the Extreme, 37-year-old Doug Higgins, turned in an outstanding performance in his own right Saturday in his season debut by helping Bloomington to a 49-23 victory over RiverCity at Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo.

Higgins, who hadn't kicked competitively since ending his college career at the University of Illinois in 1991, converted four of seven conversion kicks and was successful on a 20-yard field attempt.

Higgins and his Extreme teammates, who are in the midst of a franchise record three-game winning streak, have a bye this week.

The Extreme, 3-3 overall and one game out of the lead in the East Conference of the UIF, returns to action May 19 with a 7:05 p.m. contest against Ohio Valley at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

Fans can purchase single-game and season tickets at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum box office, 101 S. Madison, Street, Bloomington or by calling 309-434-2679; 866-891-9992 or by going to the web site at www.uscellularcoliseum.com.
