Bisons Notes
April 16, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Bisons face the Columbus Clippers in the finale of a four-game series from Cooper Stadium (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is looking for the sweep having won the first three games of the series, including a doubleheader sweep on Sunday. RHP Brian Slocum gets the start after throwing four innings in a no-decision on Wednesday. The Clippers will counter with veteran RHP Tim Redding.
GREAT START: The Bisons are 6-1 for only the third time in the team's Modern Era (1989, 2001). The 2001 season was the only time they improved to 7-1. The quick start has given Buffalo a two-game lead in the International League North Division.
"E"ASY SWITCH: After committing 11 errors in the first 28 innings of the season, the Bisons have not been charged an error in their last 31 innings in the field.
HIT STREAK: Outfielder Shin-Soo Choo comes into tonight's game with a five-game hit streak. Since April 11, Choo has hit .500 (7-14) with four RBI and four walks. Choo has also reached base in all seven games this season, posting a .556 on-base percentage.
NOT ALONE ON BASE: Infielder Keith Ginter has also reached base in all seven Bisons games in 2007. He has hit .273 (6-22) with four walks and a .370 on-base percentage. Luis Rivas has reached in six of seven games with a .393 on-base percentage.
CLOSER: Reliever Edward Mujica is a perfect four-for-four in saves this season. He has two more saves than any other pitcher in the International League.
HELD IN THE YARD: Bisons' pitchers have yet to allow a home run so far this season (7 games, 59.0 innings). Last season, Herd pitchers allowed just 79 home runs, the fewest in the International League.
