Rapids Acquire Midfielder Jose Cancela From Toronto

Commerce City, CO (April 6, 2007)- The Colorado Rapids acquired today midfielder Jose Cancela from Toronto FC in exchange for a Youth Development roster spot secured until 2009.
A composed playmaker, Cancela combines great technique with superior field vision and precise touch, all qualities that have become his trademark during his career.
He first signed for Major League Soccer with New England in 2003 after a stint with Costa Rican club Deportivo Saprissa. During his international career, Cancela has also played for Cruz Azul and Puebla in Mexico, and for Peñarol in Uruguay. Cancela was acquired by Toronto FC from New England in the 2006 MLS Expansion Draft.
