GAME TODAY: BISONS at RICHMOND (1:00 p.m.)
The Buffalo Bisons (0-0-1) play their second exhibition game TODAY at 1:00 p.m. against the Richmond Braves in Atlanta's Spring training facility in Disney, FL.
HERD TIES TOLEDO IN SPRING OPENER
After a rainout on Friday, the Bisons and Mud Hens played to a 2-2 tie on Saturday, March 17 in Buffalo's Spring exhibition opener. Jeremy Sowers (with the team because of Cleveland's rainout) pitched for Buffalo and worked five shutout innings. OF Jason Cooper and INF Jake Gautreau both doubled in four trips while INF Keoni de Renne went 1-2 with an RBI. OF Jonathan Van Every drove in the Bisons other run (0-2). The Bisons held an intrasquad game on Sunday.
THE RETURN OF ARMS
On March 15, the Cleveland Indians optioned four players to the Bisons. Back from last seasons' team are RHP Edward Mujica (3-1, 2.48ERA, 22G) and LHP Rafael Perez (0-3, 2.63ERA, 13G). Infielder Michael Aubrey and RHP J.D. Martin were also optioned to Buffalo's roster. The Tribe re-assigned LHP Jason Stanford, infielder Asdrubal Cabrera and catcher Max Ramirez to minor league camp. Stanford was 6-6 with a 4.01ERA for the Bisons last season while Cabrera hit .263 with 11 doubles, 1HR and 14RBI in 52 games with the Herd after being acquired in a trade with Seattle.
OFFICE HOURS EXTENDED
The Dunn Tire Park Box Office will now be open Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. until the end of the season. For Saturday and Sunday afternoon games, the hours will be from 10:00 a.m. through the end of the game. For evening weekend games, the box office will be open 12:00 p.m. through the end of the game.
BATTING HELMET GIVEAWAY ADDED
The Bisons have added to their already jam-packed promotional schedule. The team will give out 4,000 full-sized batting helmets prior to their 7:05 p.m. game against the Norfolk Tides on Saturday, June 23. The game is also the team's Faith Night, with pre-game tent concert by Hawk Nelson and an appearance from the Veggie Tales. A complete promotional schedule is available at Bisons.com.
FINAL WORKOUTS
Bisons manager Torey Lovullo has scheduled two team workouts that will be open to the media. The team will make final preparations for the season at Dunn Tire Park on Tuesday, April 3 (2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.) and Wednesday, April 4 (6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.). Both practices are weather permitting and subject to change.
SINGERS, TAKE NOTE
The Bisons will hold their annual National Anthem auditions on Friday, March 23 (10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) and Saturday, March 24 (11:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.) at Dunn Tire Park. There will be singers performing every 10 minutes except for a half-hour break from 1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. All singers must schedule times in advance by calling the Bisons at (716) 846-2080; no walk ups will be allowed.
