Lynx lose and tie for first time in 2007

OTTAWA - When the Lynx took to the field for their Saturday game against Syracuse, it was immediately obvious that the Chiefs had pulled out all the stops: 2003 Cy Young Award winner Roy Halladay was on the mound for Syracuse.

Syracuse gave the Lynx their first loss of the Spring, taking Saturday's affair 2-0. The two teams locked up again yesterday, ending in a 4-4 tie. The Lynx Spring record now stands at 3-1-1.

Lynx 0 Chiefs 2

Greg Jacobs, Pedro Swann and Gary Burnham got the Lynx 3 hits against the Blue Jays' ace. The Lynx countered with Phillies pitcher John Leiber who limited the Chiefs to 3 runs over 6 innings. Talley Haines, Chris Key, Bubba Nelson and Allen Davis all threw innings in the Lynx loss.

Lynx 4 Chiefs 4

Catcher Jason Jaramillo led the Lynx attack with 2 hits and 2 runs batted in. 2003 Lynx MVP Pedro Swann had 2 hits and scored a run, while Chris Roberson had a hit and scored a run. Joining the hit parade were Juan Tejeda, Mike Costanzo and C.J. Henry. Matt Childers got the start, allowing 3 runs over 3 innings of work. Nick Evangelista allowed a run over his 2 innings, while Jim Crowell and John Ennis each threw 2 scoreless frames.

The Ottawa Lynx will open the 2007 season, their first season as the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, in Rochester on April 6.
