March 1, 2007 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Greenville Drive News Release
Greenville, S.C. - Can you measure up to a Clay Buchholz fastball? Can you hit tape-measure blasts just like Jeff Natale? Just how big is Mitch Stachowsky's jersey? You will be able to answer these questions while taking part in several interactive games as the Greenville Drive and Coca-Cola have partnered up to bring fans the Drive/Coca-Cola Caravan Tour during the month of March, as a buildup to Opening Day.
"This is a great opportunity for fans to experience a small piece of Greenville Drive baseball," commented Drive General Manager Mike deMaine. "Coca-Cola and the Drive are excited to begin what we hope will be an ongoing event."
Former Drive starting pitcher and Boston Red Sox top prospect Clay Buchholz has been clocked at throwing a fastball an astounding 97 MPH. Fans will be given the opportunity to see just how hard they can throw at the Coca-Cola Speed Pitch. Additionally, a batting cage will give participants the chance to swing for the fences like their favorite Drive sluggers.
Fans will have the opportunity to try on official Drive jerseys from some of their favorite players from the 2006 season. The Drive's lovable mascot, Reedy Rip'It, will be in attendance as well for photo opportunities and autographs. In addition, attendees can purchase Drive apparel and pick-up information regarding ticket plans and group rates for the upcoming season.
The Drive/Coca-Cola Caravan Tour officially kicks off on Tuesday, March 6th at Chick-Fil-A of Pelham Road from 6 PM - 8 PM. The caravan will make a total of 7 stops during March at the following locations:
Tuesday, March 6th (6 PM - 8 PM): Chick-Fil-A of Pelham Road
Saturday, March 10th (10 AM - 2 PM): Wren Little League Opening Day
