River Rats call up center Brent Kelly

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today they have called up center Brent Kelly from the Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League.

Kelly had a league-leading 40 goals and 42 assists with 28 penalty minutes in 49 games with Arizona this season. The 25-year-old native of Kitchener, Ontario ranked first in the CHL in shots (304), third in points (82) and fourth in power play goals (14) and game-winning goals (six).

Kelly has played in 167 AHL games with Saint John (2002-03), Cleveland (2003-04), Grand Rapids (2004-05) and Philadelphia (2005-06) during his five-year pro career, recording 26 goals and 38 assists. He had 16 goals and 23 assists in 74 games with Philadelphia last season.

The River Rats, who have won four of their last six games, begin a four-game road trip Friday, March 2 against the Syracuse Crunch at the Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter at 7:30 p.m.
