Iowa Chops News Release

SAN ANTONIO, TX - The Iowa Stars wrapped-up their four-game Texas road trip with a sweep of the two Texas-based teams after a 4-1 victory over the San Antonio Rampage. It was the second straight win over the Rampage and stretched their franchise road winning-streak to a seven games. The win was the 20th road victory of the season and equaled last season's high-water mark. The Stars now have 13 of a possible 14 points in their last seven games with a record of 6-0-1-0 in that span. The win also moved them to within two points of the third place Milwaukee Admirals.

The Stars and Rampage failed to register a goal in the first period. Iowa out-shot San Antonio 12 to nine in the opening period.

Center Greg Rallo notched his second career AHL goal at the 14:00 mark of the second period. Yared Hagos and Vojtech Polak picked-up the assists on the game's first goal. Closing-out the second, Iowa's Dan Hacker spotted the Stars a 2-0 lead going into the second intermission. Hagos garnered his second assist of the game on the power-play goal that came with :43 seconds left in the period. Iowa out-shot San Antonio eight to five in the middle stanza.

Early in the third period, San Antonio's Daniel Winnik ruined Dan Ellis' bid for his second straight shutout when he scored at the 2:21 mark. The goal was Winnik's eighth of the season. Just 1:16 later, Iowa's Chris Conner regained the two-goal lead for the visiting Stars. The goal, Conner's 14th of the season, was his fifth goal and seventh overall point in his last six games. Junior Lessard and Shane Endicott earned the assists. With Rampage netminder David LeNeveu on the bench in favor of the attacker, Junior Lessard registered the fourth goal of the game for the Stars with :02 left in regulation. Both Conner and Endicott had their second points of the night with the helpers. For Lessard, the empty-net goal snapped an 11-game goalless drought for the 26-year-old winger.

Iowa Goaltender Dan Ellis earned his 20th win of the season by stopping 20 of 21 San Antonio shots. Ellis has now won his last five stats and is 6-1-0 in his last seven contests. The loss was an overtime loss to Omaha on February 16th.
