Norfolk Admirals News Release

MANCHESTER, NH - Despite two goals by Pierre Parenteau and another third period comeback attempt, the East Division-leading Norfolk Admirals (39-17-4-1) fell 4-3 to the Atlantic Division-leading Manchester Monarchs (37-16-6-1) on Tuesday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

The Monarchs opened scoring with two minutes left in the first period while skating four-on-four. Manchester's leading scorer, Noah Clarke, converted a sharp passing play with a one-timer from the right faceoff circle that eluded Norfolk netminder Corey Crawford's glove at 18:38.

Manchester doubled their lead with a goal in the first two minutes of the second period. Matt Moulson sent a shot from the bottom of the right circle past a screened Crawford at 1:41.

The Admirals cut Manchester's lead in half nearly six minutes later on a power play of their own. Pierre Parenteau collected a loose puck in the goalmouth, spun around and sent a shot over the outstretched glove of Monarchs goaltender Jason LaBarbera at 7:40.

Moulson re-established the Monarchs' two-goal lead when his rebound shot found the back of the net on a power play at 1:27 of the final frame. Peter Harrold made it 4-1 in favor of Manchester with another man-advantage marker, as his wrister found its target at 5:42.

The Admirals' comeback bid began with a man advantage marker two minutes later. Parenteau sent a shot from the left half wall through traffic that was tipped in front by Troy Brouwer past LaBarbera at 7:53.

Parenteau drew the Admirals to within one goal of Manchester with 1:28 remaining in regulation. While shorthanded, he stripped a Monarchs attacker of the puck in the neutral zone and broke in alone on LaBarbera. His shot from the right hashmarks dented the twine glove side at 18:32.

Despite a flurry of shots in the game's final minute, the Admirals were unable to beat LaBarbera as the Monarchs held on for a 4-3 win.

Crawford (33 shots, 29 saves) was saddled with the loss. LaBarbera (37 shots, 34 saves) picked up the victory for Manchester.

Norfolk was 2-8 on the power play while Manchester was 2-9.

The Admirals will head to Lowell on Friday night to face the Devils at 7:05 p.m. The Admirals return to Scope on March 7 against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
