New York, February 27, 2007 -- New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has acquired right wing Alex Bourret from the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for left wing Pascal Dupuis and a third round pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Bourret, 20, has appeared in 45 games with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season, registering 11 goals and 21 assists for 32 points, along with a plus-three rating and 46 penalty minutes. In his first professional season, Bourret currently ranks eighth on the Wolves in scoring with 32 points.
Prior to turning professional, the 5-11, 205-pound forward skated in 258 career games with Shawinigan, Lewiston and Sherbrooke of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) from 2002-2006, recording 110 goals and 181 assists for 291 points, along with 472 penalty minutes.
