Jason Krog Returns to Wolves

February 27, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release

The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned center JASON KROG to the Chicago Wolves.

The Fernie, British Columbia, native appeared in 25 games for Chicago earlier this season, averaging over two points per game in those contests before being recalled by the Thrashers on Dec. 12. KROG recorded three assists and four points in 14 outings with Atlanta, his first National Hockey League action since the end of the 2003-04 season, before being claimed on waivers by the New York Rangers on Jan. 12. He tallied two goals in nine matchups with the Rangers before being re-claimed by Atlanta today.

Prior to his recall by Atlanta, KROG led the American Hockey League with 33 assists and 52 points and shared third with 19 goals. The 31-year-old forward has notched at least one point in all 25 of his games with Chicago this year, the second-longest streak in the AHL this season behind teammate DARREN HAYDAR's record-breaking 39-game run (Oct. 7 to Jan. 6). Currently, KROG's 33 assists share ninth in the league while his 52 points are tied for 16th. He ranks third on the Wolves in goals and assists and fourth in points despite not having played an AHL game since Dec. 9.

KROG was awarded the AHL Milestone of the Month Award for November after posting a league-season high seven points (3G, 4A) on Nov. 4 against the Peoria Rivermen, which included his second hat trick of the year and a team-season high four assists. That night, he became the first AHL player in nearly eight years to record seven points in a single game and fell one point shy of matching a single-game franchise record. He was also named to the Canadian All-Star Team at the 2007 AHL Classic, but did not participate due to his recall to the NHL.

KROG has earned 58 points (21G, 37A) in 198 career NHL games with the New York Islanders, Anaheim Ducks, Thrashers and Rangers. He posted three goals and four points in 21 postseason contests to help Anaheim reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 2003.
