Sundogs Beat Eagles for Second Straight Time

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz.- The Colorado Eagles were defeated by the Arizona Sundogs Saturday night 4-3 at the Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, Arizona. The Eagles played with just 11 skaters and have not played a game with more than 13 skaters for 12 consecutive games. Arizona led 4-1 in the third period before the Eagles began to mount a comeback, but it was too little too late for Colorado as they lost for the second consecutive night. Chris Bartolone scored a pair of goals and Cory Stillman added three assists for the Sundogs as they are now 3-0 against the Eagles at home. The home team has not lost a game in the season series with the last game being in Arizona on the final day of the regular season. Colorado will travel to Wichita for a game against the Thunder on Tuesday night at the Kansas Coliseum.

Chris Bartolone scored a four-on-three goal for the Sundogs giving them a 1-0 lead at the 8:17 mark of the first period. He was assisted by Cory Stillman and Brent Kelly. The Eagles tied the game on a power play goal of their own at the 16:51 mark of the period when Riley Nelson beat Chris Mayotte on a shot from the point. He was assisted by Ryan Tobler. The teams were even in shots at 11 in the period however the Eagles were whistled for seven penalties resulting in five power play opportunities for Arizona. After one period the teams were tied at one.

Colorado killed a five-on-three penalty to start the second period, however Brent Kelly gave the Sundogs a 2-1 lead at the 4:06 mark when he took a feed from Karl Sellan on a two-on-one goal. Chris Bartolone had his second goal of the game at the 16:04 mark to give the Sundogs a 3-1 lead going into the second intermission.

Only 15 seconds into the third period, Jonathan Landry gave the Sundogs a 4-1 lead on a slapshot from just inside the blueline, it was an unassisted goal. The shortbenched Eagles never quit and scored Seth Leonard made the game 4-2 on a five-on-three goal with 4:20 remaining in the period. With seven seconds remaining in the game, Scott Polaski made it 4-3, but it was too little too late as the Eagles fell for the second consecutive night. Final score: Sundogs 4 - Eagles 3.
