Thunderbirds Welcome Back Dijon Thompson

Albuquerque, N.M., Jan. 30, 2007 - Forward Dijon Thompson has been reacquired by Albuquerque Thunderbirds following the expiration of a pair of 10-day contracts with the Atlanta Hawks.

Thompson, who spent the first part of the season with Albuquerque, signed a 10-day contract with Atlanta on Jan. 6, on the Hawks extended his stay another 10 days with a second contract on Jan. 16. The Hawks had until last Friday to sign Thompson for the remainder of the season, but opted to release him instead. He averaged 3.0 points per game in six games with Atlanta. In his first stint in Albuquerque this season, Thompson started 12 games with the T-Birds, averaging 20.3 points, 4.0 assists and 9.3 rebounds per game before earning his GATORADE Call-Up.

The Thunderbirds have waived center Eddy Fobbs to make room for Thompson on the roster, Fobbs averaged 3.9 points and 3.7 rebounds a game, through 20 games (seven starts).

The NBA D-League includes the Albuquerque Thunderbirds (N.M.), Anaheim Arsenal (Calif.), Arkansas RimRockers (Little Rock), Austin Toros (Texas), Bakersfield Jam (Calif.), Colorado 14ers (Broomfield), Dakota Wizards (Bismarck, N.D.), Fort Worth Flyers (Texas), Idaho Stampede (Boise), Los Angeles D-Fenders, Sioux Falls Skyforce (S.D.) and Tulsa 66ers (Okla.). Expansion teams have already been awarded to Oren, Utah and the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas for the 2007-08 season.
