Texas Wildcatters News Release
Estero, FL (November 28, 2006) The Texas Wildcatters (12-2-2-0) on the strength of Kevin Baker's hat trick held off the Florida Everblades comeback and won by a score of 6 to 5 in front of a crowd 4,732 at Germain Arena. Baker scored two third period goals including the game winner as he now leads the ECHL with 16 goals. It was the first hat trick of the season for the Wildcatters. Texas came out strong in the first period with three unanswered goals as Mike Bayrack opened the scoring at the 1:44 mark. Baker would follow with his first which came on the power play and Sparre got his fifth of the season. Florida hung around in the second period and trailed by two after Brandin Cote scored his tenth of the season.
Baker opened up the scoring in the third period with his second of the night, but Florida all of a sudden awoke and scored three times in a 2:21 span midway through the period to tie the game at five. Head Coach Malcolm Cameron would call a time out to talk things over with his team and 30 seconds later Kevin Baker would quiet the Florida crowd with his third goal of the game for the hat trick. Olivier Proulx who was named In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week earlier in the day would add an assist, but his seven game goal scoring streak came to an end. In his return, J.F. David chipped in three assists for the 'Catters. Brandin Cote and Mike Bayrack finished the game with a goal and two assists. Goaltender Matt Yeats who was runner-up for goaltender of the week honors got his league leading tenth win of the season making 24 saves in the victory.
