Toledo Walleye News Release

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks, announced today that Logan Koopmans has been recalled by the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. In exchange, the Griffins have assigned their goaltender Stefan Liv to Toledo in addition to defenseman Gerry Burke. Updated career statistics for all three players are attached on the next page.

Koopmans, a Detroit Red Wings 5th round draft choice, will make his second trip of the year to Grand Rapids. During his brief stint with the Griffins, he did not see any playing time. This season with the Storm, Koopmans has appeared in 11 games, going 8-3-0 with a 2.60 goals against average (GAA) and a 0.919 save percentage.

Stefan Liv will make his Toledo Storm debut this weekend. Liv has appeared in 7 games with the Griffins this year, accumulating a 1-5-1 record with a 3.66 GAA and 0.878 save percentage. Liv's visit to Toledo will be his first trip to the ECHL; prior to being with the Red Wings organization, he spent seven seasons overseas in the Swedish Elite League. Stefan was a fourth round choice of the Red Wings in 2000.

After a brief tour in Grand Rapids, Gerry Burke will be back with the Storm this weekend. Prior to being called up, Burke had played in all 14 Toledo Storm games this season, during which time he had collected 1 goal while adding 5 assists. A year ago, he led all Storm defensemen in scoring with 8 goals and 17 assists. He will be in the lineup for the weekend games against Reading and Trenton.

The Storm will travel out east this weekend for three games in three nights against a pair of North Division rivals. On Friday, Toledo will battle the Reading Royals then travel to Trenton to take on the Titans for Saturday and Sunday games at Sovereign Bank Arena.
