Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL announced Tuesday (Nov. 28) that they have received forward Mathieu Aubin on assignment from the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL). The 6-foot-3, 204 pound forward is in his rookie season.
Aubin, 20, appeared in seven games with Hamilton, collecting a pair of goals and two assists for four points. He had a four-game point scoring streak from Oct. 20 through Nov. 14. He had goals in wins over Syracuse (Nov. 3) and Omaha (Nov. 14).
A fifth round selection of the Montreal Canadiens (No. 130 overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Aubin spent four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Last year, with Lewiston, he tallied 47 goals and 56 assists for 103 points in 70 games. Aubin ranked eighth in the league in goals (47) and eleventh in points (103). He registered three three-goal games (hat tricks) and assembled a twelve-game point scoring streak (9-11-20) from September 23 through October 21.
Aubin played in 118 games in the QMJHL from 2002 through 2005, netting 38 goals and 49 assists for 87 points. Twice he was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week during 2004-05 and is the son of former Toronto Maple Leaf Normand Aubin.
"Mathieu is a big skilled forward who can help us with the power play," Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber said. "We are looking forward to seeing what he can do."
Mathieu Aubin is the fifth player under NHL contract with the Montreal Canadiens to join the Cyclones. Jimmy Bonneau, Cedrick Desjardins, Jon Gleed and Cory Urquhart are the others.
The Cyclones are next in action on Friday, December 1, when the Wheeling Nailers come to town for a 7:30pm tilt at U.S. Bank Arena. It is Reality TV Stars night, with approximately 20 persons from half a dozen shows represented.
Tickets for all Cyclones games can be purchased at the U.S. Bank Arena box office, all Ticketmaster outlets including select Kroger stores, charge by phone at 513-562-4949 or online at ticketmaster.com.
