Falcons Host Sharks Tonight

The Springfield Falcons and Worcester Sharks meet for the second time in 24-hours when they square off tonight at the MassMutual Center. Overall, this will be the third meeting on the season and second contest between these two intra-state rivals at the MassMutual Center. The Falcons have won both meetings against the Sharks this season beating Worcester 3-2 on November 4, followed by a 4-1 triumph last night at the DCU Center. Adam Henrich, Daniel Corso, Stanislav Lascek and John Adams scored for the Falcons last night, while goaltender Karri Ramo made 31 saves between the pipes. Worcester's Tom Cavanagh scored the Sharks lone goal last night. After tonight's game, Springfield and Worcester will not meet again until Saturday, December 9 when the Birds head to Shark Territory.

The Falcons enter tonight's game having won two straight games and five of their last six contests overall. Springfield has also won their last three home games, all wins coming in a shootout and by the score of 3-2. The Falcons have improved their record to 10-9 on the season and moved into a fourth-place tie with the Lowell Devils in the Atlantic Division standings. Springfield is only one-point behind the third-place Manchester Monarchs and three points behind second-place Providence. Springfield will conclude the month of November tonight having posted a mark of 7-4-0-0 through 11 games this month. Following tonight's game, the Falcons will not play again until Friday, December 1 at Manchester.

The Sharks head into "The Nest" having posted a record of 1-4-0-1 in their last six games falling into sixth-place in the Atlantic Division standings with a record of 8-7-0-3 through 18 games. Worcester will conclude a stretch of three games in three days on Sunday when they host the Hartford Wolf Pack. The Sharks will hit the road for a three-game voyage next weekend when they head to Norfolk for two games next Friday and Saturday, followed by a visit to Hershey next Sunday.

CAREER NIGHT: Falcons defenseman John Adams scored his fist American Hockey League goal and added two assists Friday night earning the game's first star in a 4-1 win over Worcester. Adams has played in five games for Springfield this season after starting the year with Springfield's ECHL affiliate the Johnstown Chiefs. In 12 games with the Chiefs, the Wayzata, Minnesota native recorded one goal and three assists for four points. Adams spent four seasons with Boston College from 2001-2005 and was a teammate of David Spina while with the Eagles. Adams made his AHL debut with the Falcons last season and he signed an AHL contract with Springfield on August 30, 2006.

FIRST OF THE YEAR: Springfield forward Adam Henrich scored his first goal of the season last night at Worcester giving the Falcons a 1-0 first period lead. Henrich started this season with the Falcons before playing in nine games with Johnstown collecting four goals and seven assists for 11 points. Henrich was recalled from the Chiefs on November 21 and scored a goal in the shootout on November 22 against Portland. Henrich split the previous two seasons between Springfield and Johnstown and the 6-foot-4, 238-pound native of Thornhill, Ontario scored 10 goals with Springfield during his rookie season.

RETURN TO WORCESTER: Falcons center Daniel Corso returned to Worcester last night scoring the eventual game-winning goal and adding one assist earning the game's third star. Corso has two goals and three assists in six games since joining the Falcons on November 9. Corso started his pro career in Worcester as a member of St. Blues organization during the 1998-99 campaign.

STILL ON TOP: Sharks left wing Mathieu Darche continues to lead Worcester in scoring and goals this season with 18 goals and eight assists for 26 points in 18 games played. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound native of Montreal, Quebec also continues to lead the AHL in goals and overall, Darche is ranked fifth in the league in scoring. Darche remains tied for the league lead in power play goals with nine and also is tied for the Sharks team lead in game-winning goals with two. Darche had one goal against the Falcons in the first meeting of the season back on November 4.
