(Houston, TX) - Literacy Advance of Houston is excited to announce that Oliver Luck, the first president and CEO of the Houston Dynamo, will be the next recipient of the Champions of Literacy award, which will be presented January 25, 2007, at the Petroleum Club of Houston.

The Champions of Literacy Series is a multi-annual fundraising and public awareness series, seeking to promote the cause of literacy by recognizing people who have made a difference in the community. "Due to the popularity of soccer in the growing Hispanic community, the Dynamo is in a great position to work with groups like Literacy Advance of Houston to address the challenges surrounding literacy. With so many people attending Dynamo games, we at Major League Soccer feel that our support and dedication to the literacy movement can make a real difference in the lives of our fans and their families." Oliver Luck. Larry Dierker, famed Astros player, commentator, and Manager, will serve as Honorary Chair and Emcee for the evening.

The Champions of Literacy Series gala will be on Thursday, January 25, 2007, at 6:30 p.m. The evening will consist of the third annual "What's Your Favorite Book?" silent auction, buffet, presentation and cash bar.
