Two on the road, two at home for Chiefs

Spokane will begin this week with a pair of games on the road, Tuesday at Portland and Wednesday at Kelowna, before finishing their four game in five night stretch with two at home on Friday and Saturday.

Friday night, the Chiefs will host the Red Deer Rebels on Coeur d'Alene Casino Bingo Night. Saturday, the first Buck Night of the year will take place with $1 Coca-Cola products, hot dogs and popcorn available when Spokane hosts the Tri-City Americans. The first 5,000 fans through the gates will receive a pair of CheerStix courtesy of Coca-Cola.

Saturday's game will also be aired live on Comcast channel 12 with the pre-game show beginning at 7:00.

"This is a big week for us," Head Coach Bill Peters said. "It starts on Tuesday against Portland in our first trip to the Memorial Coliseum. This will be a good game against a team in our division that we're battling with right now," he finished.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH at PORTLAND WINTER HAWKS AIR-6:30 GAME-7:00

Spokane will travel to Portland for the first time this season in the Chiefs and Winter Hawks third match-up of the season. Spokane is 2-0 at home versus Portland. The Chiefs and Portland will face off a total of eight times this season, four in each other's building. The Chiefs earned a 6-4 win on October 10th with five different players scoring goals. Judd Blackwater had two and Chris Bruton had a pair of assists. Four different players scored goals on November 1st in a 4-3 win. The Chiefs will host Portland on December 9th, the Chiefs Teddy Bear Toss, in their next game. Last year, in nine games, Derek Ryan scored three goals and 12 points while Adam Hobson had four goals and seven points. Spokane outshot Portland in six of nine games.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH at KELOWNA ROCKETS AIR- 6:30 GAME-7:00

The Chiefs will travel to play the Kelowna Rockets for the third time this season. Spokane is 2-0 on the year versus Kelowna after a 4-1 win on November 3rd in the Spokane Arena. Drayson Bowman, David Rutherford, Adam Hobson and Chris Bruton all had goals. The Chiefs earned a shootout victory over the Rockets on October 14th in their first meeting of the year. Judd Blackwater and Mitch Wahl scored goals in regulation and Derek Ryan and Michael Grabner scored in the shootout for the win. Dustin Tokarski was 2-2 in shootout chances. Kelowna will make the trip back to Spokane on Saturday, November 25th and Tuesday, December 5th, the final game of the season series.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 10TH vs. RED DEER REBELS AIR-6:30 GAME-7:00

The Chiefs will play host Red Deer for their only meeting of the season with the Rebels. The Chiefs earned a 5-4 win last year in Red Deer. The Chiefs outshot the Rebels 36-25 and Jared Spurgeon, David Linsley, Chris Bruton and Michael Grabner all scored for Spokane. The Chiefs scored on their only power play opportunity. The last time Red Deer was in Spokane, November 9th, 2004, the Rebels earned a 4-2 win. Since 1992-93, the Chiefs are 12-9-1 versus the Rebels, and 8-4 in their last 12 meetings. The Chiefs will host teams from the Central Division this year and travel to the East Division.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 11TH vs. TRI-CITY AMERICANS AIR-6:30 GAME-7:00

Tri-City will travel to the Spokane Arena for the second time this season. The Chiefs have played twice in Kennewick this season and have an 0-3 record versus the Americans. The Chiefs lost by one goal each time on the road, once in overtime. Tri-City scored with 10-seconds left on November 4th in their last meeting for a 5-4 victory. Tri-City earned a 5-1 win on October 7th in the Chiefs home opener. Last year, Spokane finished the regular season 5-5-1-1 versus the Tri-City Americans. The team that led after the second period was 10-1 last season in the series. In 12 games, Derek Ryan scored five goals and 12 points and Michael Grabner had nine goals and 10 points. Grabner finished the season series +9 while Sean Zimmerman was +12. In its 19th year of existence, the Chiefs lead the rivalry 108-99-1-1 with 13 ties. The game will be broadcast live on Comcast channel 12 with a replay on Sunday morning, also on 12. The Chiefs will travel back to Tri-City on December 2nd, a game that will also be aired in Spokane.

News and Notes

RUTHERFORD'S RUN...David Rutherford has scored goals in five straight games, six in his last seven games, and now has seven goals and 11 points in 17 games as a Chief.

RYAN'S RECORD...Derek Ryan has two goals and three assists in his last five games. The 20-year-old scored the game winner versus Portland on November 1st in the Spokane Arena.

OH, BLACKWATER...Judd Blackwater has six assists in his last five games. Blackwater recorded his first career two goal game on October 10th in a 6-4 win over the Portland Winter Hawks. The second year forward scored seven goals and 13 points in 45 games last year and has three goals and 14 points through 16 games this year.

17-YEAR-OLD SPURGEON...Jared Spurgeon has one goal and three points in his first three games of the season. Spurgeon missed the first 15 games of the year with a back injury. The 17-year-old had three goals and 12 points last season in his rookie year.

DO AS ROMAN DOES...Rookie 17-year-old Ondøej Roman has six assists in his last three games and one goal and 10 points in 18 games. Roman was the Chiefs first round Import Selection this summer.

POWER PLAY...The Chiefs have scored seven power play goals in the last four games. This season, Avista will donate $25 to Project Share for each power play goal they score this season. To this point, Avista has raised $450 for Project Share.

THE BOWMAN...Drayson Bowman has three goals and four points in his last three games. After scoring 17 goals and 34 points in 72 games last year Bowman was named the Spokane Chiefs Rookie of the Year. In his first game of the season, Bowman recorded his first career two goal game, an 8-4 win over Kootenay. The Littleton, CO native was just the ninth 16-year-old in Spokane history to score more than 10 goals.
