K-Tribe Fills Front Office with Two of Their Own

KINSTON - The Kinston Indians announced today that Jessie Hays will take over as Assistant General Manager for the organization. Jessie earned the promotion after spending a year as the K-Tribes Sales and Media Manager.
"Jessie was a perfect fit for this organization from day one," said General Manager Shari Massengill. "I feel like she has been here forever with the way she interacts with our fans, sponsors and the front office. It is rare to find someone who works so hard, does her job so well and always has a smile on her face. The promotion to Assistant General Manager is well deserved."
General Manager Shari Massengill and new Assistant General Manager Jessie Hays are a unique duo at the top of the Kinston Indians Organization. There is currently no other all female General Manager/Assistant General Manager combination in the Minor Leagues.
Jessie is a native of St. Paul, Minnesota. Jessie attended the University of St. Thomas and was a four-year member of their women's basketball program. She graduated in 2005 with a major in Public Relations and minor in Business Administration. She was a Media Assistant for the St. Paul Saints in 2005.
Katrina Carter gets a well deserved promotion as well, moving from intern to her new Sales and Promotions Manager position. Carter was in charge of on field promotions for the K-Tribe during the 2006 season.
"Katrina kept the crowds going with her on field presence this season," said Massengill. "We are just so happy to keep her energy and ideas with us for another year. There is usually a lot of turnover at this level of Minor League Baseball. It is great to be able to keep Katrina and Jessie with us for the 2007 season."
Katrina Carter is from Frederick, Maryland. She graduated from East Carolina University in May of 2005, where she earned her degree in Broadcast Journalism. The home opener for the defending Carolina League Champion Kinston Indians is Monday, April 9th, 2007.
