York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution, York's new minor league baseball team, has named long-time minor league baseball executive Matt O'Brien as the club's general manager. The team will begin play next season in Sovereign Bank Stadium as a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball Clubs.

O'Brien, 35, comes to York with over 13 years of experience in minor league baseball, including being involved in the start up phase of three clubs. Most recently, O'Brien was the vice president and general manager of the Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Pelicans of the Carolina League from October '02 - June '06. While with the Pelicans, O'Brien was named Carolina League Executive of the Year in 2005.

A native of Aurora, IL, O'Brien is no stranger to the Atlantic League, having served as general manager of the Long Island Ducks (1999-2002) and assistant general manager of the Somerset Patriots (1998-99). He was the first-ever G.M. of Long Island, where the Ducks averaged a sell-out crowd in all three of his seasons there. O'Brien was assistant G.M. for the Patriots during their successful inaugural season in 1999.

"Matt is a perfect fit to lead the York Revolution into the inaugural season and well beyond," said Revolution and Keystone Baseball President Jon Danos. "Matt has proven himself to be one of the most successful leaders in all of minor league baseball with deep experience in bringing new teams to their communities. Matt is very skilled in delivering the quintessential minor league baseball experience, and in creating enduring relationships between the team and the community."

Following his graduation in 1993 from Drake University, where he received a B.A. in advertising, O'Brien began his career in minor league baseball with the Kane County (IL) Cougars. He then spent five years with the West Michigan Whitecaps as their game operations manager. Both clubs were among the attendance leaders in the Midwest League.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for me to join Keystone Baseball and to come into a situation in York which has picked up unbelievable momentum over the past several months," said O'Brien. "I had a chance to attend the Fanfest event in early August and witnessed firsthand the incredible level of enthusiasm and excitement that this community has for the return of baseball. I can't wait to become actively involved in the York community as we gear up for the opening of Sovereign Bank Stadium next season."

Keystone State Professional Baseball, through its predecessors, affiliates and principals, has been a leader in minor league baseball since 1982. Keystone Baseball has owned and operated its own minor league teams - including three affiliates of the Baltimore Orioles - managed teams for others, assisted in the sale and purchase of teams, and advised and consulted with clients worldwide. Through its strong relationship with Major League Baseball, Keystone Baseball has operated spring training facilities, provided field maintenance services at the Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, and operated the Maryland Fall League. In addition to preparing for the inaugural season in York, Keystone Baseball currently owns and operates the Lancaster Barnstormers and Camden Riversharks of the Atlantic League, and is preparing to bring the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs to Charles County, MD.
