Detroit Shock on NBA Access

September 13, 2006 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)
Detroit Shock News Release

This week, NBA Access with Ahmad Rashad goes behind the scenes of the 2006 WNBA Finals, following all the drama of the back-and-forth battle between the defending champion Sacramento Monarchs and the eventual champions, the Detroit Shock. Cameras catch up with Detroit star Katie Smith as she drives to the arena and reflects on her career and her dream of adding a WNBA title to her impressive resume.

Viewers can also get exclusive access to the Shock's training room, where Cheryl Ford talks about the series while getting her ankles taped before a game.

On the Sacramento side, former league MVP Yolanda Griffith puts her career in perspective, and the show re-establishes contact with DeMya Walker, who made a remarkable comeback after having a baby to help the Monarchs have a chance to repeat.

All that plus exclusive, high-definition coverage of the exciting five-game series is coming up on the next NBA Access with Ahmad Rashad, this Sunday, September 17th at 12:30 PM on ABC.
