Seattle Thunderbirds News Release

Seattle, September 12, 2006 - Seattle Thunderbirds General Manager Russ Farwell today announced the team has traded the rights to right wing Ladislav Scurko to the Tri-City Americans in exchange for a fourth round selection in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft.

"Scurko was a good player for us. We liked having him on our team," said Farwell. "He just got caught up in a numbers game. We didn't have an overage spot and a European slot that we could fit him in. Hopefully this move gives him the chance to play in the league this season."

Scurko played 131 regular season games in two seasons with the T-Birds and had 38 goals and 51 assists for 89 points. He had a plus/minus rating of plus-30 in those two season with 81 penalty minutes. Scurko played in 19 playoff games in two seasons and had seven goals and five assists, with a plus-8 and 12 penalty minutes. Scurko was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the sixth round, 170th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He was not signed by Philadelphia.
