Jesse Palmer puts on Alouettes' uniform

Montreal, Sept. 11, 2006 - Canadian quarterback Jesse Palmer will put in the Alouettes' uniform for the first time since he was drafted in the second round, 15th overall, in April 2001.

In 2001, Palmer (6'2'', 225 lbs.) signed a contract with the New York Giants. He took part in eight games between 2001 and 2004, including three starts. He completed 63 of 120 passes for gains of 562 yards, four interceptions and three touchdown passes. He went to the San Francisco 49ers in 2005 but did not see regular season action. Born in Nepean, Ontario, he attended the 49ers' training camp this season.

Three new receivers also joined the Alouettes today. Receiver and return specialist Javarus Dudley (5'11'', 193 lbs.) attended the Alouettes' 2005 training camp. In 2006, he caught 78 passes for gains of 1,035 yards with the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League. He scored 17 touchdowns. Dudley attended the Atlanta Falcons' training camp in 2006. He is 24.

In two seasons at Tulsa, Ashlan Davis (5'8'', 179 lbs.) caught 65 passes for 908 yards and six touchdowns. He excelled on special teams with 70 kickoff returns for 1,898 yards and six more scores. He attended the Indianapolis Colts' training camp in 2006. He is 23.

Mark Simmons (5'11'', 185 lbs.) had three seasons of over 40 catches with the University of Kansas, where he is the All-time receptions leader with 155 catches for 2,161 yards. He attended the San Diego Chargers in 2006. He is 22.

The Alouettes' practice is scheduled to end around 12:30 p.m. today. The Alouettes will be back on the field tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Olympic Stadium.
