Salmon Kings poised to drop the pre-season puck

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today the pre-season and training camp schedule before their momentous 2006-07 season. For the second time in club history, the Victoria Salmon Kings will face off against an ECHL rival in an exhibition match.

EXHIBITION SERIES

The McCall Manchester Ice and Event Centre in McCall, Idaho will host a Friday and Saturday showdown between the Salmon Kings and the Idaho Steelheads. The 650-seat facility with a regulation NHL-sized hockey rink will kick off the pre-season on October 13th at 7:30 p.m. (MT), with a second game on October 14th at 7:30 p.m. (MT).

Victoria was 5-3-0 versus Idaho last season, with four of those victories being on the road. Tickets are available by calling (208) 634-3570. Prices are $13.00 (U.S.) per seat for adults, $10.00 (U.S.) per seat for children 12 years and under, and children 3 years and under may enter for free.

The Salmon Kings regular season begins on Friday October 20th in Anchorage, AK against the Aces. Their first home game at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre is on Wednesday October 25th at 7:05 p.m. (PT) against the Idaho Steelheads.

TRAINING CAMP SCHEDULE

On Friday, October 6, 2006 the Salmon Kings will officially hit the ice to begin training for their third season. The program will consist of two groups fluctuating between on-ice and off-ice conditioning in the mornings, and will come together for a scrimmage in the afternoon.

"The entire Salmon Kings organization is excited about the start of this hockey season," said Dan Belisle, Vice-President of Hockey Operations and General Manager. "We have been preparing all summer for this and we look forward to the start of the new season. With the addition of the affiliations of the Vancouver Canucks and the Manitoba Moose, we look forward to a very competitive training camp."

The on-ice portion of the training camp period between October 5th and October 16th will be open to the public at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. The training camp includes a Squad Scrimmage on Wednesday, October 11th. Fans and hockey lovers are invited to the "Annual Blue and White Game" free of charge at 7:00 p.m. (PT) at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre to see Salmon Kings hopefuls battle for top spot on the 2006-07 roster.

"We are looking for a positive camp to start a positive season," said Tony MacAulay, Head Coach. "The Annual Blue and White Game will give our fans a chance to see everyone who is in our training camp jockeying for position, before we head out to face what we are hoping will be healthy competition in Idaho."
