July 22, 2006 - USL First Division (USL-1)
Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release

Miami, FL- Miami FC fell to the Charleston Battery 2-0 Saturday night at Blackbaud Stadium in South Carolina.

Even though the South Floridian squad dominated throughout the game (15 shots on goal, against 8) Charleston took advantage of two counter attacks and beat Miami FC 2-0.

A fortunate night for forward Gavin Glinton and goalkeeper Dustin Huddock of the Charleston Battery cost Miami three points, however the USL First Division play-offs are still within reach.

The first half ended 1-0 in favor of the Battery. Gavin Glinton scored the only goal of the period at the 14th minute of play. Ten minutes later, Miami had a Penalty Kick called in their favor. The Brazilian veteran Zinho could not convert it.

In the second half Miami FC attacked mercilessly. However, Huddock did not commit any mistakes tonight. In the 50th minute, Glinton scored his 10th goal of the season and the second one of the night, to bring the Battery up 2-0.

Miami FC will be facing the Puerto Rico Islanders for the first time this season this coming Friday night (July 28) and Sunday afternoon (July 30) at Tropical Park Stadium. Two victories would get the South Floridians in play-off contention one more time.
