WNBA gives fans basketball experience of a lifetime

NEW YORK - The WNBA will take over 33rd Street in New York City for the 2006 WNBA All-Star Summer Jam on Wednesday, July 12, in conjunction with the 2006 WNBA All-Star Game. The WNBA's premier fan event will feature FREE interactive basketball games, shooting contests, as well as WNBA player autographs sessions. All-Star Summer Jam will also give fans the opportunity to meet some of their favorite WNBA players and coaches.

Featuring the best women basketball players in the world's premier women's sports league, the 2006 WNBA All-Star Game will be played at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, July 12 and will be nationally televised on ESPN at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Summer Jam is open to the public FREE OF CHARGE on Wednesday, July 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 33rd Street between 7th & 8th Avenues.

Key activities include:

- WNBA BE FIT TOUR

The traveling mobile fitness expo, a leading component of the WNBA's national Be Smart-Be Fit-Be Yourself initiative, is the League's premier interactive touring program. Through interactive events and positive messaging, the WNBA Be Fit Tour promotes fitness, health and self-confidence among girls and women, and features exercise classes, healthy cooking demonstrations and free basketball activities. As a proud partner of the WNBA Be Fit Tour, Ocean Spray Craisins will conduct product sampling and offer health and fitness lifestyle messaging within a branded tent area. WNBA players will be onsite to greet fans throughout the day.

WNBA Legend Jennifer Azzi will also be conducting clinics for fans at the Be Fit Tour. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with Azzi and learn strength, endurance and flexibility techniques that offer them ways to improve their body, mind and athletic performance.

- AOL.com BUNGEE RUN

Fans battle a bungee cord while running down a 20-foot stretch, attempting to sink a basket.

- HANNSPREE BROADCAST BOOTH

Fans will be able to record their own voice in the role of courtside announcer calling the action for select WNBA game highlights. When the broadcast recording is complete, fans will receive a customized HANNspree-branded DVD of their recording.

- NIKE THREE-POINT SHOOT OUT

Fans will have the chance to win an assortment of Nike prizes as they attempt to score as many points as possible in 45 seconds while hoisting shots from various spots behind the three-point line.

- REEBOK SLAM DUNK COURT

Contestants will have a chance to showcase their dunking skills at the Slamdunk Court.

- T-MOBILE BASKETBALL CLINIC

T-Mobile will host a basketball clinic for kids. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with WNBA players and learn strength, endurance and flexibility techniques that offer them ways to improve their body, mind and athletic performance.

- DASANI COOL ZONE

Fans can sit back, relax and pamper themselves with a free massage and cool off with Dasani water.

- GATORADE THIRST STATION

Jam Session visitors can quench their thirst at any of the four Gatorade Thirst Stations throughout the event.

- DISCOVER® CARD FAN LOUNGE

Fans can learn about special Discover® Card promotional offers and also catch a sneak peak of the new "Discover® Card Fan Lounge" opening after select games in WNBA markets through the rest of the season.

- WOMEN'S BASKETBALL MAGAZINE

Women's Basketball Magazine will be on-site distributing free publications.

The World's Most Famous Arena, plays host to the 2006 WNBA All-Star Game. With tickets starting at $10, fans can enjoy the unique experience of seeing the WNBA's superstars together in one place at Madison Square Garden.
