Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

The St. Louis Cardinals have sent Shane Robinson to Davenport, the Swing of the Quad Cities announced Thursday. Robinson, the Cardinals' fifth round pick in the 2006 draft, led the nation in both hits and runs scored while playing for Florida State in 2005.

Robinson is a 21-year-old outfielder who played three seasons for the Seminoles, taking home College Baseball's National Player of the Year award as a consensus first team All-American in 2005 courtesy of a .427 batting average, 96 runs, and 49 stolen bases his sophomore season. As a junior this year Robinson hit .361 with a team-high 79 runs scored, swiping 32 bags in 36 attempts. The native of Tampa, Florida left Tallahassee with a career .357 batting average over 206 games, scoring 227 runs while successfully stealing 100 bases in 112 attempts.

Robinson arrived in Davenport on Sunday, one day before the Cardinals released outfielder Richard Giannotti.

Giannotti, 22, had just two hits in 16 at-bats in seven games for the Swing, but did come up with the game-winning knock in a 9-8 win over Wisconsin on June 17. The Cardinals had signed the Florida native after he was released by the Angels during spring training.
