THE WEEK AHEAD

Tuesday, June 20 - vs. Sun - 7:00 p.m.
Radio: WNMX 106.1 FM

After a quick one game road trip, the Sting return home to host the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. Connecticut comes into Charlotte Bobcats Arena tied with Washington for the best record in the Eastern Conference. The Sun currently hold a two-game lead in the season series with the Sting. Connecticut shot .514 from the floor to defeat the Sting 89-65 on June 1. Two days later, six Sun players scored in double figure to hand the Sting an 89-71 loss.


Thursday, June 22 - vs. Shock - 11:30 a.m.

The Shock, coming off two straight wins, make their first appearance in the Queen City this season on Tuesday. Cheryl Ford leads Detroit this season averaging 15.1 points and 12.4 rebounds. Katie Smith, Deanna Nolan and Swin Cash also average 11-plus points for Detroit.


Friday, June 23 - at Comets - 8:30 p.m.

The Sting begin a four-game road swing as they travel to Houston to face the Comets for the first time this season. All-Stars Tina Thompson and Sheryl Swoopes have helped guide the Comets to an 8-4 record to start the 2006 season.


Sunday, June 25 - at Shock - 5:00 p.m.

Charlotte's travels continue as they head to Detroit to face the Shock for the second time four days. Charlotte holds an 8-7 record all-time in Detroit.

CAMP DAY
The Sting will host the first of two camp days on Thursday, June 22 as they take on the Detroit Shock. Tipoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. All kids in attendance will receive Sting Stix to help cheer the Sting on.

HITTING THE ROAD
After opening the season with eight of their first 11 games at home, the Sting begin a tough road stretch later this week. On Friday the Sting head out on a four-game road swing that begins in Houston. Charlotte then plays eight of their next nine games away from Charlotte Bobcats Arena.

SMITH FINDING GROOVE
Sting forward Tangela Smith has scored in double-figures in four consecutive games for Charlotte. Over the last four games, she is averaging 17.0 points, 7.5 rebounds while shooting .609 (28-46) from the field.

SPREADING THE WEALTH
Early in the 2006 season the Sting have six players averaging 8.8 points or more. Tangela Smith leads the way with 13.1 followed by Monique Currie (10.8) and Sheri Sam (10.1) while Tammy Sutton-Brown, LaToya Bond and Kelly Mazzante are averaging 9.9 points, 9.0 points and 8.8 points respectively. Charlotte is the only team in the league to have six players averaging 8.0 or more points. In their nine games this season, the Sting have had six different players lead the team in scoring.

WEEK IN REVIEW
June 13 at Washington L, 87-70
Tangela Smith posted a season-high 24 points but it wasn't enough to offset a balanced attack from the Mystics, who finished with four players in double-figures.

June 15 vs. Washington L, 96-77
The Mystics outscored the Sting 35-17 in the third quarter as they handed Charlotte a 96-77 loss. Monique Currie scored 22 points to lead Charlotte.

June 18 at Indiana L, 92-85 (OT)
Tangela Smith connected on a jumper with 21 seconds remaining to force overtime but the Fever outscored the Sting 12-5 in the extra period to record the win.
