Amazing Race 9 Winners To Visit Lynx Stadium

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Lynx are pleased to announce that two of the most beloved characters in reality television history will make a special visit to Lynx Stadium. BJ and Tyler, the winners of the Amazing Race 9, will visit Lynx Stadium on June 30th for a fun-filled day of festivities.

The reality television stars will be on hand for an autograph session with fans and will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Lynx 7:05 pm game against the Syracuse SkyChiefs.

Dubbed "The Hippies" by their fellow contestants for their flamboyant style, the pair captivated viewers with their positive approach towards the challenges, great frendship and cunning wit. The duo battled adversity to win the last three legs of the race, including the all-important final, allowing them to capture the $1 Million grand prize.

Tyler MacNiven, 25, resides in San Francisco and is a graduate of the Universtiy of California at Santa Cruz. Outside of being a reality television star, MacNiven is also a filmmaker. His documentary "Kintaro Walks Japan" detailed his 145 day walk across the length of Japan.

BJ Averell, 26, works as an online tutor and is a 2003 graduate of Harvard University. Currently residing in Los Angeles, BJ is an accomplished world traveler and speaks several languages.

The Amazing Race is a reality television series produced by CBS Television that pits contestents in a journey around the world, accomplishing various tasks and challenges along the way. The groups who finish the tasks correctly and arrive at the finish line of each leg promptly are able to advance, with the last team to arrive being eliminated.
