Tonight, the SkyChiefs send 23-year-old lefty Davis Romero to the bump to face the Mud Hens. It's his first ever AAA appearance. He'll become the sixth International League rookie to start a game for the SkyChiefs this season. Janssen and Taubenheim both went on to make their Major League debuts this season and are currently both in the Blue Jays starting rotation.

A BATTER'S FIRST

In his second start of the season, outfielder Maikel Jova chalked up his first career AAA hit, a seventhinning single versus Toledo's Hector Mercado. He's the fourth SkyChiefs hitter this season to poke his firstever base knock in Triple-A

HOME ON FIRST

Centerfielder Wayne Lydon went 1-for-4 along with a walk last night against the Mud Hens. The AAA rookie has reached base in 16 consecutive starts hitting .321 (18-56) with 12 runs scored during that streak. The 25-year old switch-hitter has also reached base in his last 18 appearances away from Alliance Bank Stadium and is hitting .362 (25-69) over that stretch.

SECOND IS THE BEST

Kevin Barker and Chad Mottola both sit in the top 3 in the IL with a combined 37 two-baggers. The duo's tied for the second-best doubles total in the league behind Rochester's Jason Bartlett and Josh Rabe (38).

MOTTOLA WATCH

Chad Mottola went 3-for-3 yesterday evening against the Mud Hens, his team-best 18th multi-hit game. The outfielder's second-inning single last night marked his 1700th in the Minors in 15 seasons as a professional. With his RBI double off Columbus pitcher Tommy Phleps Sunday night, his 250th career AAA double, Mottola overtook Carden Gillenwater ('49-'54) for fourth place on the all-time Syracuse doubles list with 105. He also stands third on the all-time Syracuse home run list with 77.
