TONIGHT'S GAMES: The second and third of a four game series and the second and third of 12 meetings with the Bats, the second and third of six at The Diamond. Games two and three of an eight game homestand. The Braves were 8-4 vs. the Bats last season, 3-3 at The Diamond. These are the 17th and 18th of 48 games vs. West Division opponents, Richmond is 8-8 vs. the West Division. The 10th and 11th of 24 home games vs. West Division opponents (Richmond is 5-4). The Braves are 56-62 all- time vs. Louisville. The Braves are tied for fourth in the South, 21 games behind first place Charlotte. The Bats are third in the West, three and a half games off the lead.

TUESDAY'S GAME: The Bats beat the Braves 3-2 in 11 innings Tuesday at The Diamond. The Bats scored on a wild pitch in the 11th to send the Braves down to their fifth straight loss. Louisville scored in the top of the first on a wild pitch following a Norris Hopper triple to take a 1-0 lead. The Braves moved in front in the fourth on a two run homer by Scott Thorman, his 15th of the year. The Bats tied the game in the sixth on a throwing error on a bunt by William Bergolla. In the 11th, Earl Snyder doubled, was sacrificed to third, and scored the winning run on a wild pitch. Scott Chiasson picked up the win. Mike Venafroe earned a save. Will Startup took the loss. Hopper had three hits for the Bats. Four Bats pitchers held the Braves to four hits, none after the fourth inning.

THORMAN ON A ROLL: Scott Thorman is third in the league in hitting (.325). He is second in home runs (15). He is tied four third in RBI (43). He has the IL lead in hits (80). Thorman is third in slugging percentage (.581). He is second in the IL in extra base hits with 31. Thorman has hits in 14 of his last 15 games. His recently ended 11 game hitting streak is the club's longest of the season. Thorman is hitting .442 with six home runs and 17 RBI in 13 June games. He is on a pace to hit 31 home runs this season. No R-Brave has hit more than 26 since The Diamond opened in 1985.

CRUNCHING NUMBERS: Bill McCarthy's streak of hits in 13 straight starts ended Tuesday. Braves pitchers are 5-19 at the plate (.263) with an RBI and SB. Braves pinch hitters are 2-18 (.111).

ON THE LEADER BOARD: The Braves are second in the IL in stolen base percentage behind Charlotte. They have swiped 47 and have been caught 16 times (74.6%). Their 16 caught stealings is second fewest in the IL behind Louisville. The Braves four wins when trailing after eight innings is tops in the International League. The Braves seven shutouts is tied for third in the IL. The Braves are fourth in fielding percentage. Richmond is last in the IL in ERA.

DOUBLE DIPPING: The Braves will play their third doubleheader of the season tonight. They split each of the first two. The Braves have been rained out four times this season, three at home. The three home rainouts equals last year's total.

WORKING OVERTIME: The Braves are second in the IL in extra innings games played with 12. They have already surpassed last season's total of 11. Rochester leads the IL with 14 extra inning contests. The Braves are 4-8 in extra innings.
