Kevin Covais to sing anthem

(Central Islip, N.Y., June 8, 2006) - Long Island Ducks team officials today announced that Levittown native Kevin Covais of American Idol fame will sing the National Anthem prior to two games at Citibank Park later this season.

"We are excited to bring Kevin back to our ballpark," says Ducks general manager Michael Hirsch. "He won our American Anthem contest a year ago, then won America's hearts singing on American Idol. Having him out here again will be special."

This Saturday, Covais will sing the anthem prior to the second annual HIP Grand Slam Challenge. The nine-inning contest between Senior All-Star teams from Nassau and Suffolk counties and will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the HIP Grand Slam Challenge are available now and can be purchased by visiting the Citibank Park box office or by calling 631-940-TIXX now. All ticket proceeds will benefit the QuackerJack Foundation, the charitable arm of the Ducks.

On Friday, June 16, Covais will sing the anthem prior to the Ducks 7:05 p.m. contest with the Somerset Patriots. Following the game's final out, Pulte Homes will present a Grucci Fireworks Extravaganza. The Long Island Ducks are in their seventh season of play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.
