Columbus Crew SC News Release
COLUMBUS, Ohio (Wednesday, March 29, 2006) - Columbus Crew General Manager Mark McCullers, along with Radio Sol, 1550-AM General Manager Luis Orozco, announced today that Radio Sol will continue as the Spanish Radio Home of the Columbus Crew.
It is the fourth season on Radio Sol and the sixth season that The Crew has aired its home games on Spanish radio in Columbus. Former Crew midfielder Marcelo Carrera will call the play-by-play with Benny Pietrangelo handling the color commentary.
"The Crew organization remains committed to forging a sound and mutually beneficial relationship with the Columbus Hispanic community," said McCullers. "Our partnership with Radio Sol is a key element in that regard, and we look forward to our fourth year with them."
Radio Sol will broadcast all 16 Crew regular season home games, as well as any home playoff games.
"We are excited to again carry the Columbus Crew on WXOL Radio Sol for the 2006 season," said Orozco. "We believe it to be a perfect fit for our audience with the presence of the Hispanic players and assistant coach. Our listeners do not have to be enticed as they already love the game of soccer."
