Pelicans, BI-LO Join Forces

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- Grand Strand area Myrtle Beach Pelicas fans will be able to purchase Pelican merchandise and tickets throughout the season at all seven Grand Strand BI-LO locations. Ticketing and retail services is one of the elements within a new partnership between the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Class-A Affiliate of the Atlanta Braves) and BI-LO for the upcoming 2006 Baseball season.

"We were looking for ways to expand our presence in the community and this partnership provided just that," said Neil Fortier, Director of Corporate Sales. "We are extremely excited to team up with BI-LO for the 2006 season."

The partnership provides new opportunities for both entities. The Pelicans will have a presence in all seven Grand Strand BI-LO locations, benefiting not only the Pelicans, but also existing sponsors through point of sale promotions and circular advertising. Likewise, BI-LO will also receive exposure at Coastal Federal Field through a number of different promotions, signage and radio throughout the 2006 season.

Included in the partnership deal, is the creation of "BI-LO Buddies," local Little League teams will be able to register to win at all seven Grand Strand locations for a chance to take the field with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

The Pelicans open their 2006 season at home against the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Class-A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox) on Thursday, April 6 at 7:02 pm.

"Baseball is the All-American game and BI-LO is delighted to make going to games easier for busy moms. We also believe that by encouraging kids to become involved in baseball they will have an opportunity to learn some valuable lessons about sportsmanship and personal integrity," according to Joyce Smart, BI-LO's company spokeswoman.
