PREDATORS FACE TOUGH CHALLENGE FROM SOUL
FORMER PREDS ASSISTANT RETURNS
For a second week in a row, the Orlando Predators will face an opponent who is being coached by a former Predators assistant. Last week, the Kansas City Brigade led by former Orlando Assistant Kevin Porter (1999) fell to the Predators, 48-41. This week, former Predators player (1991), offensive coordinator (2003) and Assistant Head Coach (2004-05) Bret Munsey leads his Philadelphia Soul into "The Jungle."

Munsey, a former Winter Park High School star athlete, is off to a great start in his AFL coaching career, leading the Soul to impressive home wins over Tampa Bay and Los Angeles in his first two weeks. The Soul are led by quarterback Tony Graziani and a slew of former Orlando Predators players such as EJ Burt, Ernest Allen, Michael Brown, Kevin Gaines, and Reggie Doster.

The Predators will be looking to avenge a 64-60 loss to the Soul last year in Philadelphia, where they played without starting quarterback Joe Hamilton. Had the Predators won that game against the Soul, who finished the season at 6-10, they would have won the Southern Division at 11-5 and had secured home field advantage throughout the playoffs. "It was a costly lost last year, but it's in the past," Jay Gruden said. "We only thinking about getting ready to play a great Soul team."

Front Page Quote
"He nearly won a Heisman at Georgia Tech because he would run with the ball when there was nothing there. He needs to know that it's okay to occasionally run the ball. We'll watch film, I'll yell at him and he'll yell back at me and we'll get it worked out. He's my quarterback and I know he can get it done."

--Predators Jay Gruden expressing frustration on a Joe Hamilton interception when it appeared he could have easily run the ball for a first down.
THE COACHES
PREDS HEAD COACH JAY GRUDEN
Fifteen seasons in the Arena Football League. Fifteen seasons in the playoffs. Seven trips to the ArenaBowl. Six championship rings. An average of 10.8 wins per season. Whether as a head coach, player or offensive coordinator, Jay Gruden's name has been synonymous with success in the Arena Football League.

Gruden began his AFL career as a quarterback with the Tampa Bay Storm in 1991. A two-time All- Arena selection and the 1992 MVP, he led the Storm to six consecutive playoff appearances and an unprecedented four ArenaBowl titles under three different head coaches.

At age 30, he became the youngest head coach in the Arena Football League when the Orlando Predators hired him to replace the legendary Perry Moss - who retired after nearly 50 years in the coaching profession. Gruden's impact on the Predators was immediate. After a 9-5 regular season mark, Gruden guided the Predators to a pair of playoff wins to set up an ArenaBowl match-up with top-seeded Tampa Bay. Although the Storm came into the game with a 14-2 record and were prohibitive 14-point favorites, Gruden delivered Orlando 's first ArenaBowl championship with an incredible 62-31 win over the Storm.

During the next two seasons he would continue to set league history. Gruden became the first AFL coach to take a number eight seed to the ArenaBowl as Orlando recorded stunning road upsets in 1999 over top-seeded Tampa Bay (41-19) and second-seeded Iowa (48-41). The following season, the Predators started 7-0 and finished the 2000 campaign with an 11-3 record, capturing the second seed for the playoffs and winning a second ArenaBowl title.

In one of the most unusual moves in AFL history, Gruden announced his resignation as head coach of the Predators to return to the playing field as Orlando's quarterback after the 2001 season. In two years as Predators quarterback, Gruden compiled an impressive 20-9 record as a starter. Gruden returned to the Predators sideline as Head Coach and Director of Football Operations in July 2003. In his first season back, Gruden directed the Predators to his third 10-win season and upped his career record to 53-30-0 (.639) as an AFL head coach. In 2005, the Predators won 10 games again.

For his AFL career, Gruden has posted some truly remarkable numbers. As a head coach, he is 65-38-0 and ranks in the top 10 overall in coaching wins and winning percentage. He is one of only five AFL coaches with two or more ArenaBowl championships. In the playoffs, his 11-4 mark as a head coach ranks in the top five all-time in victories and winning percentage. As a quarterback, he ranks in the top ten with more than 20,000 passing yards and close to 400 touchdowns. He won 15 of 19 post-season starts with 4,761 passing yards and 77 touchdowns. Gruden was 84-25 (.770) as a starting quarterback. That mark, combined with his 10-5 record as Nashville's offensive coordinator and his 65-38 record as head coach, takes Gruden's all-time Arena Football League record to 159-68 (.700). As a player, assistant coach or head coach, Gruden has never failed to lead his team to the playoffs.

PHILADELPHIA HEAD COACH BRET MUNSEY
A former Orlando Predators player, coordinator and assistant head coach, Bret Munsey is in his first season as an AFL head coach after being tabbed to take over the Philadelphia Soul following the 2005 season. Munsey, a native of Winter Park, Fla., began his AFL career as player with the Orlando Predators in 1991. He spent three additional years on the Predators practice squad (1992-94).

Munsey began his coaching career with the Augusta Stallions of af2 in 2000. As defensive coordinator, he helped the Stallions to a 13-3 record and an American Conference Championship. August's defense was one of only three defenses in the 16-team league to allow less than 600 points in the 16-game season. In addition, Munsey's defense ranked in the top five in total defense (4th), pass defense (5th), rushing defense (4th), first downs allowed (1st), and turnover margin (2nd). Three of his players were named to the first unit of the All-af2 team.

Munsey came to the Predators from the Carolina Cobras, where he served as defensive coordinator. Under his guidance, the Cobras were ranked in the top five in the Arena Football League in many defensive categories and came within one play of earning a spot in the semifinals. Prior to his stint in Carolina, Munsey served as Head Coach and Director of Football Operations for the Tennessee Valley Vipers of the arenafootball2 league. During his first season as a Head Coach, Munsey led his team to a 14-2 regular season record (15-3 overall). His defense ranked in the top five in all major categories and three defensive players were named to the "All-af2" team.

Munsey was promoted to Assistant Head Coach in August 2003, when Jay Gruden resumed the head coaching position. In his post, Munsey handles many duties - including serving as Director of Player Personnel and Defensive Coordinator.

SERIES HISTORY AND NOTES:
*This will be just the second game ever between the Predators and Philadelphia, who joined the Arena Football League as an expansion team prior to the 2004 season.

*The team met back on April 30, 2005, with Philadelphia winning a 64-60 decision in game where Predators starting quarterback Joe Hamilton missed the game with an injury. It was a stunning loss for the 9-4 Predators, who would lost the following week against Austin and go from securing home field advantage throughout the playoffs to a wildcard team who had to go on the road for two consecutive weeks.

*Orlando trailed for most of that game but fought back to take a 60-57 lead on Marlon Moye-Moore's touchdown run with less than a minute to go. But Chris Ryan scored on a 1-yard run with 38 seconds to go. Orlando QB Chris Sanders drove the Predators to Philadelphia 15, but misfired on two consecutive passes as time expired and Philadelphia held on for the win.

*Philly QB Tony Graziani threw for seven touchdowns in the win over the Predators.

*Philadelphia players OL/DL EJ Burt, DS Reggie Doster, OL/DL Ernest Allen, OL/DL Cecil Caldwell (injured reserve), WR/DB Michael Brown and DS Kevin Gaines are all former Predators players. Burt, Doster, Brown and Gaines began their careers with the Predators.

PREDS NEWS, NOTES, QUOTES, AND TRENDS

PREDATORS SWITCH BROADCAST TO WFLA
Due to scheduling conflicts with UCF basketball, Clear Channel Communications and the Orlando Predators have announced that Saturday's game with the Philadelphia Soul has been moved from WQTM 740 AM to WFLA 540 AM. The move will actually benefit Orlando Predators fans in the outlying areas, as WFLA is a 50,000-watt station with a far greater reach in Central Florida than its sister station WQTM. Tom Morgan will call the play-by-play, with Predators PR Director Dan Pearson providing color commentary. The broadcast will begin at 7 p.m.

PREDS WAIVE GUTHRIE
The Predators made one roster move on Monday, waiving OL/DL Sean Guthrie. An undrafted free agent from Boston College, Guthrie spent three years in the New York Giants organization beginning in 2002.

TICKET SALES STRONG; PREDS FANS FILL HUMMER FIELD
A outstanding week of ticket sales pushed Orlando Predators season tickets to a record total of more than 10,300 last week; while strong single game sales on Friday resulted in 13,502 fans jamming Hummer Field for the home opener against Kansas City. The total was 1,132 fans more than attended last year's home opener against Colorado - an increase of more than nine percent.

SEVEN MARY THREE TO PLAY FREE CONCERT AT PRED FEST
Thanks to the efforts of Budweiser and 104.1, recording artists Seven Mary Three will perform a free concert at Pred Fest, the official pre-game party of the Orlando Predators. The group's concert is scheduled to begin at 5:30 outside Hummer Field and the TD Waterhouse Centre. The groups second album, American Standard, featured the hit single Cumbersome and went platinum in 1995 with record sales of over 1,000,000. Other hits by the group include Water's Edge, Lucky, Lame and Headstrong.

NEVER ON A SATURDAY, BUT MAYBE IN THE JUNGLE
What is it about playing on Saturdays? With week one's loss to Georgia, the Predators have now lost six consecutive games on Saturday. Orlando will try to break out of their Saturday slump against Philadelphia this week and will have the good karma associated with Hummer Field and "The Jungle" to back them up. With last week's win over the Brigade, the Predators have now won six straight games at the TD Waterhouse Centre and nine of the last 1o.

GRUDEN CLOSING IN ON MOSS
With last week's win, Orlando Predators Head Coach continues to close in on AFL Hall of Famer Perry Moss to become the winningest head coach in Orlando Predators history. Now in his seventh season as head coach, Gruden has 65 total victories and is just two short of Perry Moss' franchise record of 67 wins. Moss, the first head coach and general manager of the Orlando Predators, recorded a 67-31-0 record in seven seasons as the Predators head coach from 1991-97. The Moss/Gruden comparison:

Moss Gruden
Seasons 7 6+
Wins 67 65
Regular Season Wins 59 56
Playoff Wins 8 9
AFL Championships 0 2
Overall Winning Pct. .684 .627

GRUDEN CREEPING UP ON GREGORY
In addition to chasing Moss, Predators head coach Jay Gruden continues to creep up on former Iowa Barnstormers/New York Dragons head coach John Gregory for eighth place on the AFL's list of winningest coaches. Gregory recorded a 73-57 record in 10 AFL seasons. Gruden is now just eight wins behind Gregory in his seventh AFL season.

TAYLOR AUTOMATIC
For a second consecutive week kicker Jay Taylor was perfect and had his stats nearly duplicated from his first week's effort. Taylor hit his only field goal attempt and all four of his extra points to account for seven points in win over Kansas City. In addition, five of his eight kickoffs went for touchbacks. His 4-4 night on extra points and his 1-1 night on field goals were the exact same totals he had against Georgia in Week 1. Taylor had a sensational season in 2004 for the Predators, hitting 18 of 25 extra points and 79 of 85 extra points to account for 133 points in winning AFL Kicker of the Year honors as a rookie. Taylor parlayed that season into a tryout and eventual job with the Tampa Bay Bucs (NFL). After going 4 of 5 on field goals and hitting all 11 of his extra points for the Bucs in 2004, he was released in April of 2005. He returned to the Predators but was injured in his second game back and spent the rest of the 2005 season on injured reserve. For his career, Taylor has hit 23 of 35 field goal attempts for a accuracy mark of 65.7%. He is 22 of 28 (78.6%) from inside 50 yards, and 21 of 24 from inside 40 yards (87.5%). Taylor has also been pretty good on extra points, he not only holds the Predators record for consecutive extra points made at 45, but his career percentage of 92.4% (97-105) is also a Predators' career record.

PREDATORS RUN THE ROCK
If week two was any indication, look for the Orlando Predators to be among the league leaders in rushing - again. The Predators rushed for 43 net yards against the Brigade on 13 attempts. The total was just 10 yards better than the team's 2005 season average of 33 yards per game, which ranked second in the Arena Football League. As the chart below indicates, the Predators are usually one of the top teams in the league in rushing yards, finishing in the top five in 12 of 15 previous years.

WHITE: THE NEXT GREAT PREDATORS LINEMAN?
It is still too early to tell, but Predators rookie offensive lineman Greg White may be well on his way to becoming the next great Predators lineman. In his debut two weeks ago against Georgia, White recorded four tackles with a quarterback sack, a forced fumble and a batted down pass in his first game with the Predators. He followed that effort with another quarterback sack against Kansas City and made the key play of the game by hitting the arm of Andy Kelly as he was throwing and forcing an interception that returned for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. "Greg has been dominating in his first two games," Orlando Predators head coach Jay Gruden said. "I really believe he has a chance to become a superstar in the Arena Football League." A former standout with Minnesota, White was a 7th round pick of the Houston Texans in 2002.

HAMILTON MOVES PAST McCLENTON FOR FIFTH PLACE
Joe Hamilton's four-yard touchdown run in the second quarter against Kansas City was the 17th of his Orlando Predators career and moved him past fullback/linebacker Michael McClenton for fifth place on the Orlando Predators all-time list for rushing touchdowns. Hamilton is now tied with Tommy Dorsey for fourth place with 17 career touchdowns. With two more rushing touchdowns this season, Hamilton can move into third place on the Predators all-time list past Connell Maynor (18) and he needs nine to tie Rick Hamilton (25) for second place on the Predators all-time list. It is highly unlikely that Hamilton would ever get close to the Predators record, however, as Barry Wagner rushed for 69 touchdowns in his eight-year career with the Predators (1992-99).

FRYZEL SOPHOMORE SLUMP?
Is Orlando Predators OS Jimmy Fryzel starting to fight a sophomore slump? Through two games, Fryzel has averaged 61.5 yards receiving, far below his league leading 105 yards per game last season. There's plenty of conjecture on why Fryzel is off to a slower than expected start, including a nagging ankle injury, the fact that star Cory Fleming is not in the Predators line-up this year and team's are focusing on stopping Fryzel and of course the dreaded "sophomore jinx." But head coach Jay Gruden is not reading much into it. "Our offense isn't clicking right now and all our receivers are not always on the same page as our quarterback. I don't think it is a slump, he still has 14 receptions this year. I think we'll continue to improve on offense and Jimmy Fryzel will be a big part of our offense."

JEROID JOHNSON CAPTURES IRONMAN OF GAME
With six pass deflections, an interception and a game-high 11.5 tackles, defensive specialist Jeroid Johnson captured the ADT Defensive Player of the Game honors in the win over Kansas City. Johnson made play-after-play on Friday, prompting head coach Jay Gruden to say that "It was one of the finest efforts I have ever seen by a defensive specialist in an Arena Football League game."

RETURNED PAT A FIRST FOR PREDATORS
When rookie WR/DB Jermaine Mays scooped up a fumble after a blocked kick and returned it to the Kansas City end zone for two points, it was the first time in Orlando Predators history that the team recorded points on a PAT return. Lineman Doug Miller got things started when he blocked Tim Seder's extra point in the fourth quarter. The ball was batted around and eventually picked up by a Predators lineman, who quickly had the ball stripped from him. Mays scooped up the ball at midfield and carried it into the end zone for the two points.

AND MAYS MADE ONE OTHER BIG PLAY
After Kansas City recovered an on-sides kick in the waning seconds and drove to Predators 5-yard line, Mays also made a game-saving play. QB Andy Kelly looked to have WR Steve Smith open in the back of the Predators end zone for a potential game-tying touchdown, only to have Mays fly by and knock the ball away as time expired.

PREDATORS MOVE TO 12-4 IN SEASON HOME OPENERS
With Friday's win over Kansas City, the Predators moved to 12-4 in season openers. The breakdown includes a 5-2 mark under head coach Perry Moss, 5-2 record under Jay Gruden and a 2-0 mark by Fran Papasedero. The breakdown:

4th QUARTER TOUGH ON PREDATORS
In two games, the 4th quarter has not been kind to the Predators. In Week 1, Georgia outscored the Predators 28-14 in the fourth quarter; while Kansas City outscored Orlando 20-17 in the final stanza. Overall, the Predators have given up 48 points in the final quarter-a full 50% of their points allowed in 2006.

NOVELL RETURNS TO STAFF
Orlando Predators Head Coach Jay Gruden announced last week that Mark Novell has returned to the Predators coaching staff as special teams coach. Novell served the Predators in a similar capacity from 1991-1994 and 1997-2001. He also served the team as non-football General Manager in 2001. He has spent the last four seasons as an executive in the time share industry in both Orlando, Missouri and New Orleans.

THE KANSAS CITY GAME: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY
The Good: Predators head coach Jay Gruden said he was excited about the win, knowing his team is no where close to peaking...several players stepped up in critical situations, particularly DS Jeroid Johnson, Lineman Greg White and kicker Jay Taylor...After being pushed around a little in the first half, the Predators offensive line re-established the line of scrimmage in the second half and opened holes for big running plays by DeAndrew Rubin, Marlon Moye-Moore and Joe Hamilton...The Predators defense played extremely well for most of the game, limiting Kansas City to just 4 for 13 on third and fourth down plays, including 1-4 on 4th down plays...the defense also recorded six defensive stops in the game. THE BAD: Orlando struggled at times on offense, giving up the ball three times on turnovers...the team failed to take advantage of several opportunities to take two-score leads in the second half - following defensive stops with turnovers on two occasions. THE UGLY: After grabbing a 14-point lead with just one-minute to go, the Predators gave up a quick touchdown and then watched as Kansas City recovered an on-side kick and had a chance to possibly win the game in contest's waning moments.

FINAL WORD
Brigade Head Coach Kevin Porter did not leave any doubt on whether he would have tried a two-point conversion had Kansas City scored on the game's final play. "I felt we had the momentum and would have definitely gone for two. I think we had them on their heels a little after getting the on-sides kick." Porter said after the game.

PINNACLE FINANCIAL SIGNS NEW THREE YEAR AGREEMENT WITH PREDATORS
Pinnacle Financial Corporation, one of the nation's largest independently-owned mortgage lenders, has signed a new three-year marketing and promotional agreement with the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League. The agreement replaces an earlier sponsorship signed prior to the 2005 season.

The new partnership will cover the 2006-2008 seasons and will give Pinnacle Financial print, broadcast and promotional exposure both inside and outside of the TD Waterhouse Centre during the Orlando Predators season. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"Pinnacle Financial is a national company with local roots," Doug Long, CEO said. "As we grow, we believe it is important to stay connected to the Central Florida community. The extension of our partnership with the Predators will allow us to meet this goal and will also give our company and its products exposure to the thousands of Arena Football League fans in Central Florida."

Among the more notable elements of the agreement is signage that will cover the entire width of the end zone. It is the first time that the Predators have sold the entire end zone to a single sponsor. The popular "Pinnacle Financial Kick To Win" promotion, where a fan will be chosen at each Predators home game and be given a chance to kick a field goal from midfield at the 25-yard-line for a $100,000 down payment towards a new home will continue under the new agreement.

"We are thrilled to have Pinnacle Financial extend and enhance their corporate partnership with the Orlando Predators," Predators President Brett Bouchy said. "They are one of the top companies based in Central Florida and remain a valuable partner to our team."

In addition to the new end zone signage, advertising aspects of the revised agreement include a sideline dasherboard and signage on the top of both sideline dasherboards running the full length of the playing field. In addition to the signage elements, the company will also sponsor monthly networking luncheons.

Pinnacle Financial offers residential mortgages through its branch network and Tampa-based call center. As a direct lender, Pinnacle Financial uses its own resources to process, underwrite and fund its own loans. With total control and decision making abilities at each of its offices, Pinnacle Financial is able to provide fast, efficient and affordable financing to its customers.
