Boise, ID (January 14, 2006) - The Idaho Stampede have announced the signing of point guard Nate Johnson. Johnson joins the Stampede after leading the United States Basketball League (USBL) in scoring this past season. Johnson will fill the roster spot that opened up when Greg Clausen was placed on the Injured Reserved list.

Last season for the Kansas Cagerz (USBL) he averaged 22.4 ppg to lead the league and was fourth in assists with 5.5 apg. He spent the last two seasons with the Cagerz and was selected to the USBL All-Rookie Team in 2004 and to the All-USBL First Team in 2005. Johnson was the last cut for the Los Angeles Lakers prior to the 2004-2005 season. He has also played professionally in Finland and Italy.

Johnson began his college career at Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City where he averaged 26.5 ppg and 4.4 rpg and was selected as the NJCAA Division II National Player of the Year in 2002. He then went on to play two years at Nebraska where he was selected to the All Big 12 Third team as a senior.

The Stampede play tonight at Qwest Arena against the visiting Albany Patroons. Tip-off is at 7:10 p.m.

*Jermaine Boyette will not be in the Stampede line-up tonight. He is currently in negotiations with teams overseas.
