Nighthawks Cap Exciting Weekend With Big Win

January 13, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Maryland NightHawks News Release

Rockville, MD, January 9, 2006 - The Maryland Nighthawks finished this weekend in dramatic style. A day after losing to their division rivals the Rochester Razorbacks by a hard-contested, last-second shot 113-111, the Maryland Nighthawks came out and crushed their I-95 neighbors the Baltimore Pearls 121-103 Sunday night January 8th at Knights Arena.

The Nighthawks entertained a large Sunday night crowd with hard nosed defense and a variety of jaw dropping dunks and three pointers. Ray "Hops" Cunningham lived up to his nickname by converting several acrobatic alley-oops and a "did you see that" three sixty slam. The Nighthawks were able to contain Baltimore Pearls' former Maryland Terrapin Byron Mouton with their twin towers Kevin Robinson and Lee Cook, who protected the rim with their tremendous shot blocking ability.

The Nighthawks finished the weekend 13-5 and are ready to take on the Florida Pitbulls, led by NBA legend Tim Hardaway on Saturday January 14th at 7pm at Knights Arena.
