Slam Continues Win Streak

Fresno, CA -- Caleb Gervin scored 30-plus points for the fifth time this season as the Slam took the first game of their three game California road trip, 126-120 over the Fresno Heatwave at the Ted C. Wills Center. Gervin led all scorers with 35 points and also added six rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Mike Parker also played well, contributing 26 points, four rebounds, and three blocks. The win was the Slam's fifth consecutive, giving them their longest winning streak of the season. After starting the season 1-4, the Slam have gone 10-3 in their last 13 games.

The winless Heatwave hung tough with the Slam throughout the entire game, and even held a slim 67-64 lead at halftime. However, the Slam rallied with 35 points in the third quarter for a 99-97 advantage going into the final quarter, and never trailed the rest of the way.

Fresno, who was playing their third game in three nights after consecutive losses to San Jose, was led in scoring by DeShawn Anderson with 31 points.

For only the second time this season, Bellingham had two players record a double-double. Eric Sandrin recorded 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Brian Dennis chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Slam now head to the Bay Area to take on division-leading San Jose is a pair of highly-touted matchups. The Slam and Skyrockets play at 7 p.m. on Friday night and at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at the San Jose Civic Auditorium. Both games can been seen live on the internet with streaming video at www.thedigitaltimes.net/sports/.

Due to a schedule change that has moved the Sunday, January 15 game to Sunday, February 19, the Slam's next home action will be on Tuesday, January 24 at 7 pm as the rival Tacoma Navigators visit Whatcom Pavilion.
