P-Bruins Defeat Monarchs 3-2

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins came from behind to defeat the Manchester Monarchs 3-2 Friday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. Eric Healey, Eric Nickulas and Pascal Pelletier had the three P-Bruins goals. Tim Thomas earned his seventh straight victory in net for Providence making 15 saves.
The P-Bruins scored the lone goal of the opening period at the 15:32 mark to take the 1-0 lead. Jonathan Sigalet took a shot from the left point, which was tipped by Nickulas and redirected home by Healey.
The Monarchs tied the game at one at the 15:05 mark of the second period when Greg Hogeboom put home a rebound off a Jeff Tambellini shot. The Monarchs took their first lead of the game three minutes later when Brad Smyth scored six seconds into their power play. The Monarchs went into the second intermission leading 2-1.
The P-Bruins answered back in the third period tying the game at two at the 9:35 mark. Michael Schutte worked the puck from the left point to behind the net for Healey. Healey then fed Nickulas at the far circle and he slid the puck past Monarchs netminder Barry Brust. The P-Bruins went on top at the 12:47 mark when Ben Walter took a shot and Pelletier scored off the rebound. Schutte got the other assist as the P-Bruins went on to win 3-2 for their third straight victory and sixth straight at home.
Brust stopped 27 of 30 shots for the Monarchs. The P-Bruins were 0 for 6 on the power play, while Manchester was 1 for 4 on the man-advantage.
The P-Bruins are back in action Saturday, January 7 at the Cumberland County Civic Center to face the Portland Pirates at 7:05 p.m. Providence returns home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday, January 8 versus the Binghamton Senators at 4:05 p.m. Tickets for Friday's game as well as all P-Bruins regular season home games are available online at providencebruins.com, at the Dunkin' Donuts Center box office and at all TicketMaster outlets.
