Iowa Chops News Release

DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Stars dropped a 2-1 decision to the San Antonio Rampage Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena. The loss was Iowa's first loss in regulation in the last three games.

After a scoreless first period that saw Iowa outshoot the Rampage 15-4, San Antonio's Tim Jackman put the Rampage ahead 1-0 with a power-play goal at 12:06 of the second period. Stars right winger David Oliver evened the score at one apiece just 1:10 in the third period. Shortly thereafter, San Antonio had a goal waved off. It appeared that the puck deflected off of an official on the dump-in attempt and according to rule 82 (e), the goal was disallowed. Just under two minutes later, Pascal Rheaume scored his fourth of the season and the eventual game-winner.

Assigned to San Antonio on a conditioning loan by Phoenix, goalie Brian Boucher faced 35 shots, including 27 over the first two periods. Iowa goalie Mike Smith faced 21 shots in the losing effort.
