Bears in Southern Tier Tonight to Face Senators
December 9, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hershey Bears News Release
HERSHEY heads back on the road tonight to face the Binghamton Senators in a game at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. The game is the third of eight meetings this season with the two clubs, with HERSHEY winning the previous two encounters. The Chocolate and White won 4-3 at Binghamton back on October 21 before defeating the Sens at GIANT Center 5-2 on October 23.
The BEARS enter play tonight with an AHL best 48 power play goals, eight more than second place Rochester. HERSHEY also ranks second in the league in penalty killing at 88.9 percent, just a fraction less than Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's 89.6 percent. Binghamton's penalty kill is 20th in the league at 80.2 percent entering play this evening.
HERSHEY enters action this weekend with 36 points, trailing first place Wilkes-Barre/Scranton by seven. Despite the club's standing in the East Division, the BEARS rank as the fourth best team pointswise in the AHL as of today. The BEARS trail only the Penguins, Grand Rapids Griffins and the Manitoba Moose in terms of overall points, and have more points in second place than first place Manchester in the Atlantic Division. HERSHEY also has as many points as first place Houston in the West Division.
Tonight's game is being broadcast on both 100.1 FM and 1490 AM in central Pennsylvania. The game can also be heard via Pennlive.com and B2 Networks video through HersheyBears.com. John Walton has the call of the action from Broome County beginning at 6:45 p.m. HERSHEY will host Bridgeport both Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. Tickets for both games are available at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 508-BEAR. Saturday's game will be televised locally on WHTM-TV(abc-27).
